Heading Back to the DR
No, I didn’t mean doctor. I meant Dominican Republic where myself and a team of 6 others from our church went last year to help build a home for a deserving family. I would encourage you to read more about last year’s trip here which goes into great detail on the home we built last year. Short-term missions has always been something Charity and I have had a passion for and been involved in since we were teenagers. I’m happy to have another opportunity to be a blessing outside of my usual comfort zone this year.
This year our trip is a little bit different. It’s more streamlined in that we shaved essentially two days off the total time we are there. This will put a little added pressure on the amount of time we take to build the home as the margin for error is reduced. Not only will we be building a home in just 3 days, but we are also going to do a mini vacation bible school for a local Haitian refugee community as well as a half-day baseball camp.
As you can imagine, we will be keeping quite busy and are looking forward to the challenge. We have been meeting together as a team now for about a month. A major focus of our preparations to this point has been planning our agenda while we’re down there and setting up various fund raisers that we can do as a team. So far we’ve done a great job bringing the total cost of the trip down, but I still need help raising the funds to cover my portion. In total I will be responsible for close $1,900. If you would like to be a part of the trip by helping to support me financially I would greatly appreciate it. There are several ways to contribute: first, you can go to our church’s online donation page and click on the donate button under my name from there you can check out with a PayPal account or a bank card via PayPal, second, you can mail a check directly to Greenbrier Church at 1101 Volvo Parkway, Chesapeake, VA 23320 with “DR Trip – Chris Mack” in the memo line, finally, you can give check or cash directly to me at your convenience. Any amount would be appreciated no matter how large or how small.
Financially isn’t the only way for you to help support me while I’m on the trip. I’m also looking to fill out a list of people who would be willing to remember our team in prayer leading up to and during the trip. If you would like to be a part of that group please let me know via email so I can add you to my list.
I’m looking forward to a great trip and I’m excited to see what God has in store for our team while we’re down there.

I’ll be praying as well!
Amazing mission fully deserves funding! Good luck Chris and the team.
Thanks Felicity! Glad you could wrest your attention away from the royal birth to lend your support 🙂
