We are always on the quest for fun and unique books. It had been a dry spell this summer. Stacks and stacks checked out from the library and nothing truly worth writing about beyond Dr. Seuss books (which are fun and unique, but most people know this already). So when we found two great books in the same stack I couldn’t wait to declare “There are still great children’s books out there!”
Okay, maybe I could wait because it’s six weeks since I checked them out, they are due tonight and I have vowed not to renew them again in order to force me to finally write these reviews. Promise me you will then read them for yourselves so this wasn’t all for not. Promise? Thank you. Now, without further ado:
When Dinosaurs Came with Everything

As I sit here, curled in a seat for many more hours, I am comforted by the chubby, small, hand tracing my fingers as the car’s rhythmic movement lulls sleepiness into her body. She is engulfed by soft purple fleece jammies and grip-equipped feeties beckoning her to give-in to the rest so needed after a fun-filled weekend to Great-Grandma’s house.
This post has been a long time coming. No excuses, just haven’t felt inspired to write anything about it until now. For those of you that don’t know. At the end of July myself and a team of 6 other guys from my church went down to the Dominican Republic to work with YWAM (youth with a mission) to build a home for a family who otherwise would not have been able to have one.
“I can’t hear you with the shower running in my ears…”
“MOM! The kitchen is smoking!”
I go running, barely getting a towel across my six month belly, tearing down the hallway soaking wet with soap in my hair expecting all the burners to be turned on and catching things on fire like small toys that had been catapulted on top.
